Doctors, nurses, officers or warriors, they could be in any form but they are surely risking their lives to the serve the humanity.

To recognize their efforts and send a message of appreciation, we are running a series on responsible humans. The least we can do is to cheer them is to keep ourselves positive, motivated and locked at homes.

The sense of duty and commitment is supreme in some people. This is the story of a 2013 batch IAS officer, G. Srijana, who is the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation Commissioner (GVMC), who couldn’t resist her desire to serve the people and return to duty just 22 days after giving birth to her baby.

She is one of the frontline warriors in this coronavirus pandemic situation, soon after giving birth to her baby, a month ago she realized that a nationwide lockdown has been announced amid the rising cases of Corona virus. Cutting short her maternity break, she resumed her duty with her nearly 1-month-old baby to work.

Srijana was blessed with a baby boy a month ago but soon after, a nationwide lockdown was announced amid the rising cases of coronavirus. Understanding her call of duty, Srijana, returned to work and joined the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. She decided to join her duty despite having a maternity leave. When asked about how she would be able to take care for her newborn along with her official duties, Srijana said that she had ample support from her lawyer-husband and her mother.

As a responsible and key official, she said she was aware of the importance of being at work during these difficult times and how much her services were required during these emergency services. She also mentioned that the district administration was working in a combined effort to curb the virus menace.

The IAS association has hailed her effort saying that GVMC Visakhapatnam Commissioner, Ms Gummalla Srijana joined back on duty with one month old baby without maternity leave to serve the City. #CoronaWarriors", who is now leading #fightagainstcorona.
